Diversity Statement

Celebrating diversity is one of our core values at Inspired Explorations Learning Community. We strive to support learners in the healthy exploration and celebration of the many ways people are alike and different.

IELC is an educational community where all families are welcome. It is our view that education is a cooperative venture among all the adults in a learner’s life. We welcome the diversity of personalities, perspectives, and learning styles that families and learners bring into this school.

We mentor our learners to access an appreciation of the breadth and diversity of the world and its cultures, promoting acceptance, respect for others, and compassion.

Family Structure

IELC’s learners come from a wide variety of family constellations, including nuclear and blended families, two-household families, single-parent families, adoptive families, and families with same-sex parents. All of our materials, resources, and daily conversations respect this diversity in our community.

Religion

Inspired Explorations Learning Community is a non-sectarian organization in which families of different religious affiliations, or none, are present and welcome. While questions may arise about the religious beliefs and practices of self and others, IELC does not foster or endorse any particular religious tradition. Families should notify their children's educator in advance about days when the learner will be absent for religious reasons.
